The Wedding Story of David & Agnes

IAN_8640

Intro:
After having dated for more than four years, David & Agnes were married on 29th January 2011 at Ritz Carlton, Kuningan. The Holy Matrimony was held at Mutiara Room 10, at 10am while the wedding reception is at the hotel ballroom at 7pm.
Their wedding has its own special look and feel to it, all the decorations and the wedding layout is something out of a Hollywood event (like the Oscars or Golden Globe awards).

Wedding Plan:

Prewed Photoshoot:
It all started from the prewed photoshoot. After David & Agnes decided to use Ianphotography for their prewedding and wedding pictures, Ian asked if there’s any items or any hobbies that they like in particular, to be used as a focus for their prewedding shoots and also as the cover for the photo album. Together they came up with the idea that for each of the photo shoots, they would be based on Hollywood movies. A few themes that came to mind were James Bond, a dance movie and a My Wife is a Gangster sort of action comedy theme.

The team from Ianphotography planned out David & Agnes attire for the photo shoot so that their wardrobes compliment each other and that it will have a unique feel to each theme.

The Decoration Plans:
Rina from De Sketsa initially drew out a garden theme for David & Agnes' wedding décor, but upon hearing out what they have discussed with Ian, she got creative and redrew the wedding décor plans from scratch. A Broadway show came into her mind and she tried to recreate a Broadway kind of feel into the wedding decorations starting with a ticket counter for the Ang Pao Booths and the stage is designed something out of a Broadway musical.

The Music:
After meeting up with a few music teams, David & Agnes decided to use Andrew Lee music. While explaining the unique theme to Andrew, apart from choosing their own favorite songs the bride & groom wanted to have a few extra features. They requested for 2 violinist to welcome the guests before they enter the ballroom. David & Agnes decided on a live sung version of Celine Dion & Il Divo’s I believe for their Entrance song and as a final request, they wanted a pair of singers to take centre stage and sing Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony’s No Me Ames while the couple got down from the stage to cut their wedding cake.

The Video Team:
Working with Chronicles videography for their wedding videos, the bride & groom was provided an LCD screen to display their prewedding photos before the entrance and they requested the video team to have someone to interview the guests at the red carpet entrance before entering the ballroom.

The MC:
Harlan Hutabarat was chosen to be the MC, his command of English is good and his voice when spoken into the microphone sounded deep, sort of like a Hollywood announcer type of tone. Initial plans were to pair him up with a Mandarin Speaking female host, but the Bride & Groom finally decided to let him do the hosting job alone and get all the limelight. Harlan would be referred to as the Host of the show and not the Emcee.

Harlan was told that he shouldn't address the wedding as a usual wedding but more like hosting a grand event like the Academy Awards.

The Wedding Organizers:
Irene Wedding Planner (IWP) were the chosen Wedding Organizers. Having explained the wedding theme to them, they added in a few of their own input and they were very helpful in making sure that everything will go out as planned on the wedding day itself.

The Movie Video (My Wife is Pow3rful)

Ianphotography supposedly doesn't make wedding videos but they very graciously decided to film and edit a short video for David & Agnes. David wrote up the plot of the movie and the team from Ianphotgraphy drew out a comic for the storyline.

The team spent 1 day in Hong Kong and another day in Jakarta for the shoot itself.

The Dance:

Agnes having taken dance lessons since she was young wanted to do a dance during her wedding. Therefore De Sketsa added a dance floor in front of the stage for the decorations. Agnes also had David go for dance lessons together with her dance instructor Taufic. The bride & groom agreed on doing a Tango routine from the movie True Lies to the song of Pur Uno Cabeza.

Taufic choreographed for the David & Agnes' moves according to Arnold Schwarzenegger & Jamie Lee Curtis' dance routine. Having completed five dance sessions, Agnes had to go for an appendicitis operation and the doctor was against her of doing too complicated dance moves. The biggest regret for the Bride & Groom was that they couldn't perform the Tango dance that they had practiced but have to settle for a simpler Waltz routine.

Feedback from Guests

The guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly, everyone laughed while watching the video. The food was deliciously prepared by Ritz Carlton Kuningan's chef. People liked the movie posters that were displayed and some of the guest even took pictures of every single one of them. The bar was crowded, people were having wine and socializing around. Everyone had fun taking photos of the photobooth where there were props they can use.

Bride & Groom's Thoughts after the wedding
David:
We spent a lot of time planning and arranging our wedding. From more than 6 months before the big day, Agnes interviewed a lot of vendors to find the suitable ones that can offer us the best service and also at the most reasonable price. I kept telling her not to be too choosy, but she wanted everything to be Perfect. We argued most of the time when making major decisions on the wedding, both of us wanted different things and we needed a long time to determine whose choice to use. The wedding invitation alone took us 3 months and 5 different revisions to get the one we really like.
When I thought of all the fancy ideas and all the hard work we put in for the wedding, I decided that it shouldn't be just for one night, which is why we decided to document it on a blog, from the preparations up till the big day itself. I was still updating the blog even days before the wedding, because people were reading it and wanting to know what we were up to. Of course the wedding day itself is a surprise for everyone.
We were amazed by the very Grand Decor done by De Sketsa and all the other vendors also played their part perfectly to fit our wedding theme: A Night to Remember.
Our close family and friends could not understand why we were so worked up with the wedding arrangements and why we spent so much time and effort into it. But after the wedding, at least we can all agree on one thing, that it is Truly A Night to Remember.
