Back to day 3 of our honeymoon!!!
After leaving our luggages with the Palace Hotel concierge we hurriedly headed to the Mall of Dubai which is just around 5 minutes walk. The Mall of Dubai is the largest shopping mall in the world in terms of land size. It hosts an indoor mini underwaterworld, an indoor zoo and Sega World!!!
The most memorable experience in staying at the Palace, Old Town is the walks we have to take when getting to the Mall of Dubai and we went there like different times a day. Walking to the Mall of Dubai we get to pass by the Burj of Khalifa, the tallest building in the world named after the current president of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. We also got to see the performances at the Dubai Fountain in the evenings. Passing through some of the cafe's nearby, there's always the smell of apple scented sisha. Sure have some local residents or tourists smoking sisha at any given time of the day the smell is very nostalgic.

Such a great view beside the Hotel we stay in |
The Burj Khalifa, I've seen bigger ones than that |
The Dubai Fountain |
Cloudy skies, but it almost never rains here |
Always fail to get the shot of the whole tower, its really tall, the KLCC tower nothing like that |
When we got to the mall, the first thing we seek out is Nandos!!! We have been craving it since our departure from Jakarta. There used to be a few Nando's outlets in Jakarta but they all closed down some time ago. The Nando's here didn't taste as good as the one overseas, I think it's got to do with the Chicken they use.
The most satisfying meal we had throughout our stay in Dubai |
During our Honeymoon we ate a lot of good meals, from Arabic to all those Western Fine Dining meals, but still none of those beat the Extra Hot Peri2 Chicken. We swore to eat Nando's for the next few meals we gonna have, but we ordered a whole Chicken, Peri2 Chips, Buffalo Wings and we kinda got sick of it.
She wants to spend the whole day there |
The Gold Souk is named after Dubai's older districts, but in the mall there's where all the jewellery shops are situated. The wife wants to visit this section straight away but I pulled her away to the Indoor Aquarium. Wah if go there, can make me broke.
At the center of the mall there's an mini underwater world or rather a huge indoor aquarium. There's a few activities visitors can do at the aquarium. There's a diving experience to swim with the exotic marine life, or a glass boat ride to see the fishes through the bottom of the boat.
The giant Queensland Grouper |
What's that in the back? |
Shark!!! |
Lots of great white sharks |
The sharks enclosed in the aquarium are mostly medium sized, around 2 meters in length. Lucky don't have the giant size one like in Jaws. That one like can swallow a person whole. If this one maybe need 2 or 3 to finish up a whole human. Looking from under them it's like their faces wear an evil smile. These sharks remind me more of the non-fish eating one in Finding Nemo.
There's an indoor zoo at the mall, the cutest stuff were these furry animals.
Water Rats |
Gather around it's feeding time |
They chew on the carrots and cucumbers non-stop. Like the chain of bullets inserted into the machine gun that fast.
Here's the video of the water rats being fat. They're not really rats right? Too huge to be rats. More like beavers.
Penguins in the cold room
Penguin 1: What yo doin? Penguin 2: Just chillin | |
They seem kinda confused as to where they are, keep walking around the enclosed area and they end up in the same spot again and again, lol. That's how their day goes for them.
To me the best part of the mall is Sega World!
I feel like a kid again. It's an indoor amusement park with games and rides based on sega's console games. There's a roller coster based on Sonic's platform stage also a racing ride that spins 360 degrees. The wife almost puked, she said she's been to like 4 disney lands but none of the rides where this bad. I wished I had more time here, we shared most of the rides with kids, all the visitors in Sega Land where kids.
