1st Honeymoon: The Palace, Old Town

After checking out from the Atlantis at the Palm Jemeirah, we took a cab to the hotel that we'll be staying for the next 2 nights. We gonna be living at the Palace, Old Town. According to Agnes, this hotel's architecture is designed like an old Arabic palace. She wanted to try staying at an Arabian themed hotel for a totally unique Middle Eastern Feel. By searching through the Internet for hotels like this, she finally chose the Palace, Old Town because it is reasonably priced and it is located right next to the Mall of Dubai. Agnes had already planned to spent the last 2 days of our honeymoon shopping away.

The Old Town Residences

The hotels, residential areas at the Old Town, together with the Mall of Dubai and the Burj of Khalifa are all owned and developed by Emaar Properties. The Old Town is situated at downtown Dubai, its a residential area with its buildings inspired by Dubai's historical buildings' architecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emaar_Properties).

When we got off the Cab, we were like fwoaaahhhh. The luggages we just left to the porter to bring in then we started taking pictures of the exterior of the Hotel.

Arabic styled buildings check, Palm Trees all lined up check, water fountain check, shallow water pond with walkways check. All the criteria for an Arabian King's Palace are there.

When we entered the Hotel's lobby, more Arabic stuff, look at the windows and corridors.
They also placed some Arabic smelling aromatherapy throughout the area. Oooh now then can truly feel we're in Arab.

Ask people to take photo, they don't know how to adjust shutter speed and stuff to get the best lighting effects. This one too bright, really must bring pro photog on our trips next time. Maybe we could go on Honeymoon together when Ian gets married then we can take turns taking pictures

The Hotel's manager told us he got some good news. They upgraded our room to a Honeymoon Suite!!! For no additional costs and its for 2 nights, wohooo. The wife sent them an email when we booked the hotel online and mentioned that its our Honeymoon and hope that the Hotel wouldn't let us down, well they sure didn't. The manager informed us that it would take a while to prepare the room, the wife didn't want to waste time so we headed to the Mall of Dubai for the rest of the day and decide to enjoy the Honeymoon Suite later in the evening when we're done.

Pass by the Burj Khalifa

It takes just 5 minutes walk to the Mall of Dubai. We had to pass through a smaller shopping mall, the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai fountain. All such great views and that's the view we got through a Honeymoon Suite balcony for the next 2 days.
