The Decorations done by De Sketsa for our Wedding Reception was really nice. We saw the drawings for the plans but the real thing was just mind blowing.

That's some of the pictures that Ian has finished with the editing, there will be a lot more to come. Editing of all the pictures is a lot of work and would take 2-3 months, so I'll also just post them up it bit by bit.

1st Honeymoon: Day 1 (Pullman Hotel: Mall of Emirates)

We just had our honeymoon a few weeks ago. We left on the 10th of February 2011, Destination Dubai. Why Dubai for our honeymoon you might ask? Agnes has been there twice before this will make her third time there, she loved the place so much that she wanted me to see for myself. I was quite sceptical at first, like why the dessert not hot meh? I usually don't go for trips also unless there's a long holiday. She had booked for our air tickets and hotels even before our wedding, so no choice loh have to go.

So on Thursday the 10th, I still went to work finish stuff up, tell my workers what to do for the next few days and hurried to the airport. It was a night flight, departing at 9pm Jakarta time, the flight will take 7hrs and we'll be there in Dubai at around 2am local time, there's a 3 hour time difference.

I always have difficulty sleeping on the plane, thank God there's in flight entertainment I watched Mastermind, The Social Network and a Bruce Willi's movie I can't remember the name. I treat the night like I was watching a movie marathon like I used to in Perth and after the 3 movie almost 6hrs has gone by.

Touch down at the aiport, we took a cab straight to the 1st Hotel we'll be staying for two nights. The Pullman Hotel which is located at the Mall of Emirates. All hotels in the Dubai City Area aren't cheap.

We slept till 9pm then woke up eager to see what Dubai has to offer on our first day there. Went for breakfast at the Hotel's restaurant. It was outdoors with a very scenic view of Dubai. It's Winter there so temperature was around 10-20 degrees. Quite chilly and windy, I thought it weird to wear winter clothes in the middle east, but air feels so fresh and clean very invigorating.

Having breakfast there out the balcony was really relaxing, I considered just lazing around for the first day but kena force to start sightseeing by the wife.

Then we headed down to the Mall of Emirates

It's huge and spacious

There's an indoor ski spark in the Mall of Emirates, so we went to have a look.

We didn't enter the ski park, we thought of taking a look around the whole of Dubai instead. We're actually quite bored in the Mall of Emirates, despite its size it's just a Mall with the usual fashion boutiques, there's plenty here in Jakarta. It even have a TGIF resto.

We left the Mall of Emirates for our next sight seeing destination, the Madinat Jemeirah. This will be covered in the next post.

The Ending Credits

Woops, I just found out I missed out another video that was shown at our wedding.

The Ending Credits was aired during the close of our wedding reception to thank all the vendors for working with us to make the wedding a blast.

Thanks all for your hard work.

The Video was done by Chronicles Videography, when asked what song to use for the Ending Credit video, Craig David's Insomnia came to my mind straight away. Both Agnes and I had insomnia for countless nights while preparing for the wedding, we tried to turn in early on the night before the wedding but both of us were kept awake by the thoughts of so many little details that we had to make right.



Now that the wedding is over, we looked back to all our hard work, all the quarrels, all the time spent for the wedding and we realised that we only get to go through such an experience once and all the Insomnia-Ridden nights are well worth it.

The Wedding Gifts

We received some very nice gifts for our wedding.
Here are some of the more special ones.

Embroidered Picture from Agnes' Mum

Agnes' mum worked on this hand embroidered picture a month before the wedding and had it framed. We hung it up near the front door of the house to show off her work.

Hiroi San, a close acquaintance of Agnes' dad brought us two bottles of customised wine from Japan. The wine contains gold leaves in them and the label reads:

He brought two bottles so that we can try drinking one bottle and the other bottle can be used for savekeeping. I imagined the trouble he had to go through hand carrying both bottles on to the plane, not to mention getting through the local customs here.
We decided not to open both bottles, they're to precious a gift to drink. Anyway, I don't think Gold can be digested by the human body, so they'll be passed out together with all the other crap, it will be such a waste of the gold. The two bottles will be put on display once we have a display rack ready.

Hiroi San also gave us another gift, a Japanese Doll of a female dancer, I'm guessing a Geisha. Agnes' brother received a Samurai Doll for his wedding gift, she received a Geisha because she's a girl, or maybe he thinks I would prefer Geisha more than Samurai.

The Man of the Romene of the Three Kingdoms

When we got home after the wedding we found a few more gifts from Agnes side of the family. This one is my favourite, I still don't know from whom its from.
Taking a look at the box, the title wrote 'The Man of the Romene of the Three Kingdoms'. I was like heh, what talking you lah? what man? what romene?

Upon opening the box, I was like woaahh cool when I saw what it contains. There are 65 figures of all the major characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

At the top two rows are Cao Cao, his advisors, generals and even his sons.
The third row are figures of Sun Quan and all his men.
The last three rows contains all the figures of Liu Bei's men, all the heroes, the good guys.

This would be framed up and put on display.

We received many more gifts from our guests and even from people who could not come to the wedding. They're all of equal importance to us and we appreciate everyone's gifts to us, Thanks Everyone!
